Growth Mindsets
Implementing a growth mindset. Are you interested in exploring what a growth mindset can look like in the high school classroom? How do we help our students believe they can be successful?  In this session, I will share some practical and effective growth mindset strategies I have incorporated into my instruction.  You will have some time to prepare an activity to take back to your students.

Relationship Building Instructional Strategies for the High School Teacher
Ever wonder how to authentically build relationships and develop character at the high school level? What are some ways to truly “know” your students? Come to this session where participants will experience relationship building instructional strategies through the lens of the student. Relationship building instructional strategies include: door greetings, temperature checks, supported student conversations, and confidence trackers. Participants will engage in three levels of these strategies and a reflective conversation about it felt to be a student in a classroom structured in this way. Participants will need devices. "-The participants will experience relationship building instructional strategies for different skill levels of implementation. -The participants will review a repository of resources for implementing these instructional strategies in their own classrooms. -The participants will leave having made a plan for implementing one or more of these strategies with their students. "

In this session, we will discuss the importance and effect on student learning when mistake-making is encouraged and valued in the math classroom.  We will explore various strategies and activities that provide opportunities for students to analyze and learn from their math mistakes and engage in dialogue about their math thinking.

Who's Doing most of the work? How to get Students to Self-Assess and Reflect on Their Own Learning
Providing students with opportunities to take ownership in their own learning and development in the classroom fosters self-motivation, empowers them to make responsible decisions, and cultivates a sense of honesty and trust. When students participate in their learning, they are more successful in their mastery.  "Participants will: •Learn to create a student self-assessment rubric that is individualized for their classroom and content. •Have the opportunity to view examples of how this & similar practices can be implemented in any core or elective classroom •Learn how to implement a system for students to monitor their own growth that builds a sense of ownership and responsibility •Discover a new way to support TRUE student-driven with teacher-facilitated instruction •Explore how this practice extends to supporting core values of trustworthiness and respect between students and teacher, as well as students and their peers."

This goal of this workshop will be to create discussions around the concept of culture awareness and its implementation in the ELA classroom.  Topics discussed will be defining culture, connecting to resources, and sharing best practices.
