Food for Thought
Snacking doesn't have to be a BAD thing. In fact, some snacks are rich in essential nutrients. However, if nutritious food doesn't taste good, then it won't benefit anyone because no one will eat it. In this session, participants will learn how to make two popular, DELICIOUS and healthy dips: Salsa and Hummus. Participants will use their laptops to look up nutrients present in the dips, observe a cooking demo on how to make the dips, and then will prepare and eat the dips. Each participant will take home 2 recipes - and maybe some leftovers. Participants will learn about essential nutrients present in some of our favorite snack foods: Salsa and Hummus. Participants will use technology to find the nutrients, observe a food demo, and then will have a hands-on opportunity to prepare the dips. Instructional best practices include using technology (looking up the nutrients in the dips), modeling (demo), providing necessary reference material (recipes), application and techinical skills (making the dips), and giving choices (choosing which dip to make). Delivered in Clear Falls Food Lab.
