Trauma Informed Care is a strengths-based framework that is grounded in an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma. Many of our students experience years of toxic stress and toxic home environments that shift them into living every moment of every day in survival mode. These students have become hardwired for conflict and primal survival leaving them unable to navigate the demands of higher education. This is a brain issue not a behavioral issues. This session helps educators understand how Adverse Childhood Experiences alters the brains and bodies of children. Participants will learn the basic concepts of trauma informed systems of care and how it affects the brain and students on a daily basis.
