This session will review current research, trends, and the importance of handwriting instruction. Handwriting readiness skills as well as grade appropriate materials will also be discussed. Strategies to address pencil grip, proper body positioning, spacing, and letter size will be included. Participants will leave with materials to help support these strategies within their classroom.
1. Participants will learn why handwriting instruction is important across the curriculum. 2. Participants will learn important components of quality handwriting instruction. 3. Participants will learn handwriting readiness skills, as well as, appropriate materials to use in each grade level. 4. Participants will learn strategies to address common classroom teacher concerns with writing.
