For many children exposure to trauma can lead to learning and behavior problems. Trauma is particularly challenging for educators to address because kids often don’t express the distress they’re feeling in a way that’s easily recognizable; instead they hide their pain behind defiance, aggression, irritability, or withdrawing from others. This session with discuss the science of trauma and its effect on brain development and strategies any teacher can implement in a classroom to become trauma-informed. This session is open to all conference participants.
