Providing students with opportunities to take ownership in their own learning and development in the classroom fosters self-motivation, empowers them to make responsible decisions, and cultivates a sense of honesty and trust. When students participate in their learning, they are more successful in their mastery.  "Participants will: •Learn to create a student self-assessment rubric that is individualized for their classroom and content. •Have the opportunity to view examples of how this & similar practices can be implemented in any core or elective classroom •Learn how to implement a system for students to monitor their own growth that builds a sense of ownership and responsibility •Discover a new way to support TRUE student-driven with teacher-facilitated instruction •Explore how this practice extends to supporting core values of trustworthiness and respect between students and teacher, as well as students and their peers."
