"In this session the following will be discussed -What is a concussion? -Signs and Symptoms of a concussion -The chain of care -The different academic accommodations that are often given by a physician when a student has been diagnosed with a concussion. -The Texas State Concussion Law -How teachers play an integral role in the chain of care. -Who to ask for help when you aren't sure what an academic accommodation means or how to implement it -Why are academic accommodations so important?   -Return to Play Protocol " "After this session, participants will be able to do the following: 1. Better understand what happens when a student receives a concussion. 2. Understand the concussion law that governs Texas. 2. Know the signs and symptoms of a concussion. 3. Better understand what role they play in helping a student recover from a concussion. 4. Understand the different academic accommodations and their importance   5. Know who to ask for help when they have a student who has academic accommodations 6. Understand the important role teachers play in helping a student recover from a concussion 7. Understand the Return to Play protocol an athlete must go through in order to return to activity "
