This session will explore book clubs’ potential to motivate Pre-AP/GT students to engage with pre-twentieth-century works of literature and to collaborate on making sense of these challenging texts. Participants will examine samples of student reading logs, video clips of book club seminars, and student feedback on the book club format. Handouts will include reading and discussion logs, protocols, and recommendations for book club routines. Participants will experience book club routines firsthand when exploring short texts in small groups.
